I first saw the Walt Disney animated movie The Jungle Book as a child in 1960s Dublin.

It had a lot of great songs but the one that appealed to me the most was the one sung by Balou the Bear!

“Look for the bear (bare) necessities, the simple bare necessities! Don’t worry about your troubles and your strife! I mean the bare necessities, that’s why a bear can rest at ease, with just the bare necessities of life!”

How true this is! Humans waste so much time chasing meaningless status symbols, when our real needs are much simpler:

Fresh Air

Clean Water

Healthy, regular Food

Adequate Shelter

A Safe Place to sleep at night.

Yes, I mean the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities!

It reminds me that chasing rainbows and material things is just an unnecessary distraction. My Fur Babies have better sense!
