Here in France, Le Pique-nique (picnic) is very popular, with picnic tables laid out in public parks, along hiking trails and near many historic monuments. Those in the know remember to bring a waxed-cotton table-cloth with them, to cover over bird droppings and plant debris on the tables! Then out come the picnic baskets, plates, glasses, cutlery, French wines and delicious breads and pastries! Cover charge? Zero! But you might leave a tip of crumbs for the wild birds! Bon appetit!
